Reports from the Summer Harvest!

This is an update that I received from Rick Mitchell today:

Pastor Gerald, Elk Creek Baptist, though he has retired, reported that there has been 7 prof. of faith directly related to our VBS this summer. One of those salvations was a parent, as we were told earlier. His church continued to do followup with those children and visited each home. (We ended VBS with 2 prof. and 2 re-dedications--it grew!) The gospel presentation was clarified with each child and now there are seven! The one parent heard the presentation given to her child and professed too. This is awesome! It's great to know that what God began in July, He continues. Please pray for Elk Creek and their pastor search committee.

Gold Mine Baptist has started 4 new bible study classes on Sunday. They have been continually doing followup and outreach to the folks who attended the festival. 35-40 families are interested in church attendance and they have added 17 families to their mailing list. Please keep them in prayer as they followup on these prospects and grow their membership. Pray that these 17 will become members and the others will follow. Praise that Gold Mine is catching the vision to "live the mission."

Rick asks us to be in prayer for the Goshen Baptist Assoc for them to catch a vision to reach their five counties. Please pray that the assoc. will see the urgency to do outreach in this rapidly expanding area and that it will be a concerted vision. God is using Rick to line up teams to invade these communities, please open the eyes of the assoc. to follow-thru. Just in the 3 churches we have served, we have witnessed what God can do when people make themselves available. There are 36 baptist churches in these 5 counties, ask God to awaken His people to "go next door." It makes us see how blessed we are to have Pastor Eric's leadership and encouragement.

The Live the Mission Celebration on Sunday was incredible. Our table had a lot of interest. We signed up a few new people wanting to take trips to WV and Central as well as some young adults interested in helping with block parties. This Sunday the display will travel to the Ches. campus. Start praying now how you want to serve in 2010. None of these trips would have been the same without each of you. God orchestrates the teams and places each person where they need to be. I marvel at His provision and cleverness. I am always open to new team leaders, let me know if you feel the calling. :)
On Call,
Denise
