We began day 3 by
setting up the stations for our clinics inside and in front of the home of
Dennis and his wife, who are members of the church. They live in a village
known as Brisas, which is about 45 min away from our guest house. The roads
were paved in this community, which is very uncommon but makes such a huge
difference in terms of appearance and overall upkeep of the neighborhoods. We
"opened" the clinics around 9am and there was a steady flow of people
all the way up until we broke for lunch around 1:00. As well as checking vision
and handing out glasses, we had three counseling tables set up where a member
from our team and an interpreter met with individuals and were able to speak
with them about their relationship (or lack thereof) with Christ as well as
lead them in prayer. Ashlyn and I were blessed to spend time with the children
who, despite the language barriers, were so excited to participate in our
activities. When we returned from lunch (WHICH WAS DELICIOUS) there was already
a line of people waiting to be served and we continued doing so until around 5
pm. We then held a service for the community led by Pastor Tito and, what a
beautiful time of fellowship and praise. Multiple people made decisions to give
their lives to Christ that evening.
