MALAWI MISSION UPDATE (The Arrival)

Malawi, June 23, 2013

We arrived in one piece. To give you a full update, we had a great trip to JFK in a small tour bus with seating arranged in a circle. This actually allowed us to bond together as we rode, slept, and played some card games.  We flew out to London on three flights about on hour and a half a part. There was some confusion in London as we tried to link uppartly my fault due to being unfamiliar with Heathrow Airport. But we did find each other and spent part of the day in central London. We toured the Westminster Abbey, but there was time for little else. We saw but did not ride the London Eye. And of course there was the Parliament and Big Ben. We left London at 8:00 pm for Malawi. We arrived before dawn in Nairobi, but our plane out was delayed nearly 2 hours.  We arrived in Malawi to discover that all but one bag had arrived with us. Caroline’s bag was not on board. We are hoping it will arrive today on the flight, tomorrow at the latest.

The Lawrences and Maggie met us at the airport and took us to their home for lunch. Maggie was all smiles to see the teamand Hunter Bingham. We then went a short distance to the guest house and settled in.  After dinner at the Lawrences, we returned to get much needed rest.

The shortening of our trip has resulted in changes in our ministry plans. We will be two small teams in two villages. This means Stephen Souther will have to share in Bible study teaching. He is feeling a bit overwhelmed so little time to prepare. I have offered to help as he may ask. Pray for Him in this. I know he will do fine, but is feeling so hurried.

All of us are sleep deprived; pray for our rest and recovery from the trip. Pray for Stephen.  And do pray that we will all jump in to our roles in ministry. Spirits are good.  I type this in a great hurry. More to follow.
